HAYDEN — Family-owned and operated Bombastic Brewing took home five medals in several categories at the 2025 International Beer and Cider Awards last week.

The craft brewery won gold for in the imperial stout category for its “Big Dumb Beer,” and took home silver medals in the coffee stout category for its “Waddle Breakfast Stout,” in the herbed spiced beers for its “Attempted Murder Vanilla Cinnamon Stout,” and in the tropical fruit beers category for its “Gifting Marshmallow & Coconut Imperial Stout.”

This is Bombastic’s second time taking silver for its Attempted Murder Vanilla Cinnamon Stout.

Bombastic also took home the bronze in the barrel-aged stout category for its “Velvet Hammer” stout.

The uniqueness of Bombastic Brewing goes beyond its “playful and indulgent” brews, as Bombastic Brewing president Russell Mann describes them.

Bombastic Brewing follows a “partner brewing” business model, meaning it develops its recipes on a small scale before scaling it up to be brewed by its partners that have a larger production capacity.

Mann compares the partner brewing business model to having a gourmet chef use someone else’s kitchen to prepare a meal.

“Imagine Gordon Ramsay comes into your house, into your kitchen,” Mann said. “Gordon whips up a meal right there … is it yours, because it was in your kitchen? Or is it a Gordon Ramsay meal? In the same way, every Bombastic Brewing beer, no matter which partner brewery’s “kitchen” is used, is an authentic Bombastic Brewing creation.”

Bombastic Brewing currently has four to five partner breweries, its primary partner being Mother Earth Brew Co. in Nampa.

Mann believes that partner brewing is key to the future of craft breweries and said that their success at the International Beer and Cider Awards was a “testament” to the partner brewing model.

“We’re proving that this works,” Mann said.

Bombastic Brewing was among 10 Idaho breweries to participate in this year’s competition, which included breweries from across the country, a press release from Bombastic Brewing said. The event is sanctioned by the North American Brewers Association.

The craft brewery took home four medals in 2024.

Bombastic Brewing’s craft beers are distributed throughout Idaho, Montana, Utah, Nevada, Washington and Oregon. Locally, they can be found in Safeway and Super 1 Foods locations, as well as Pilgrim’s Market and some local bottle shops.
